Did You Know?
The post-it notes we see in every office, and a great tool for students as well, was actually made quite accidentally. It was in 1974 when Arthur Fry found himself in need of a way to keep his bookmarks held on to his hymnal while he sang in the choir.
It was at the same time that Spencer Silver, an employee with 3M, was tirelessly researching on a type of adhesive that will stick and also get off without leaving any residue.
The two of them came together and quite accidentally created, what we today know as, the post-it notes. The bright coloured easy to stick and remove notes can be found in almost every office and are also used by students for notation marking and other regular purposes.
